THE SKI TOURING EQUIPEMENT TO HAVE

There are Ski Touring routes to suit all levels of experience. Depending on the area and off-piste route, you may need a higher level of fitness and technical ski touring / off-piste knowledge. There are routes with gentler gradients, whilst others such as Le Buet, with its steep climbs, exposed and challenging slopes, are suitable for experienced skiers. As with all off-piste skiing, safety is paramount. An avalanche backpack, transceiver (DVA), probe and shovel are non-negotiable. Helmets are strongly recommended and on some routes are required.  If your chosen route requires a rope and harness or crampons, your guide can provide this equipment. Ski Touring or freeride skis are preferable, for your comfort on the climbs and to take advantage of powder turns on the descent. We recommend that you carry a spare pair of skins along with a pair of ski claws to aid in steep climbs.
