It’s all about enjoying the Mont Blanc massif, its peaks and its many incredible off-piste runs for maximum pleasure and thrills. There are a large number of spots where you can make the most beautiful tracks. Chamonix has the advantage of giving you access to many different areas. The choice of itineraries is even greater for a day of off-piste skiing. Depending on what you want to do, your level and the snow and weather conditions, the guide will take you to the different off-piste areas of Chamonix. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, whether you want to do the most famous, the most challenging or the most beautiful off-piste runs, the guide will be there to help you discover freeriding in Chamonix.

OR GO OFF-PISTE:

You’ll find a number of Chamonix off-piste runs in different sectors and areas. For a unique experience, whatever your level, our guides will adapt to your needs and take you to the best off-piste areas in Chamonix. You’ll find a number of well-known off-piste areas, such as the Brévent sector. There are several couloirs, including the Ensa and Bozon couloirs. You’ll also find the Brévent couloir, with its steep slopes. Then, on the Flégère side, you can ski the combe de Lachenal or des Crochues. In the Balme sector, “Le Tour” is a wild place for off-piste skiing. You can ski through fir trees in a unique setting. But this area is highly exposed to avalanches. At the Aiguille du Midi, there are many other off-piste areas, such as l’Envers du Plan and le Pré du Rochers. Last but not least, you can ski the many well-known off-piste runs of the Grands Montets.

OFF-PISTE EQUIPMENT:

Depending on the off-piste terrain, you’ll need a higher level of snowboarding skills. Some will be more open and others will require a good deal of experience on exposed, committed slopes. Safety is paramount in any off-piste activity. As a rule, you’ll need to pack your avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. A helmet is strongly recommended, if not compulsory. Depending on the sector, the guide may be equipped with a rope and you with a harness. Depending on the sector, you may also need to carry crampons in your bag. The guide can lend you some of his equipment. Of course, it’s best to have a pair of freeride skis so you can enjoy the descent to the full and feel at ease.

HOW AN OFF-PISTE DAY WORKS :

Our base camp is located in Les Houches, at the “Mont Blanc Escalade” climbing gym. Our guides will give you all the information you need. For off-piste days in Chamonix – Les Houches, the guide can meet you either directly at your accommodation or at the start of a ski lift. After a discussion with you, depending on your wishes and your level, and above all on the snow conditions, you’ll head off to the various Chamonix off-piste sectors for a half-day or a full day of off-piste skiing. In addition to guiding you and making you feel safe, he’ll give you all the technical and physical advice you need to get the most out of freeriding.
